We intend for our children to learn to understand the link between self respect and happiness; the importance of respecting and valuing others and accepting diversity and differences so that they can go on to establish effective, fulfilling relationships in their lives now and in the future. In our school we choose to deliver Personal, Social, Health Education (including Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education under three main themes:
-
Health and Wellbeing
-
Relationships
-
Living in the Wider World.
We encourage our children to reflect on their experiences and understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. Our curriculum is designed to ensure that our pupils are taught the skills that are relevant to their needs and that support their personal growth.
The long term plan sets out our vision for the curriculum across the school. The themes cover the statutory guidance outlined by the Department for Education and support our school values. Medium term planning sets out learning for each half term within a scheme of work so that over a Key Stage, planning covers all the statutory requirements within a comprehensive PSHE education programme.
